‘Animal’ is the first taste off of the upcoming new record; Second Hand Smoke from Melbourne guitarist and songwriter, Chris Smith. It is his 4th record and the long-anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed Bad Orchestra (2007). It is an extraordinary album of introspective ballads, torn up blues and hallucinatory instrumentals. ‘Animal’ is one of those ballads, a wistful contemplation on life’s struggles. Replete with melancholy harmonica and delicate slide guitar. A simply beautiful track and a wonderful emissary for this fantastic record.
